Dip. DH (Dental Hygiene)
I graduated with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene from Kings College Hospital London in 1996. Post-graduation, I worked in community dental and as a locum hygienist across London, followed by a move to Auckland New Zealand in 1997 where I worked as a permanent hygienist for 18 months. In 1999, I returned home to Warragul to be closer to my family.
I have been a practising hygienist for over twenty years and for the last fifteen years, I have been working with the team at the Drouin Dental Clinic. Over time, I have come to appreciate that the ultimate role of a hygienist is to work through preventative measures with my patients. I take the time to recommend methods that can be adopted at home for better oral hygiene, which in turn helps my patients feel more in control of their oral health.
I thrive on making our patients feel comfortable and at ease within the surrounds of our dental surgery. Nervous patients of all ages are my speciality. I encourage open communication at all times, which in turn helps me to coach our patients through high levels of anxiety.
Outside of work I am a doting mother to two teenage daughters and several furry children, including my beloved sixteen-year-old pussy cat (affectionately named Cat), guinea pigs and a cheeky bunny rabbit. I also love to read and further my education, through attending conferences and keeping up to date with the latest techniques in oral hygiene.
